Your immune system is built from protein

When dieting, protein is the first calorie source to be reduced. With age, appetite decreases and meat intake dwindles. Vegetarianism is gaining followers, but whether protein intake is sufficient is often never carefully calculated.
All of these lead to the same consequence: the immune system's building materials are decreasing.
Antibodies are proteins. Cytokines are proteins. Complement proteins are proteins. Immune cells themselves are synthesized, divided, and activated using protein. Long-term insufficient protein intake won't collapse the immune system, but it will quietly, systematically downgrade it.
