Cancer development is a complex intersection of genes, immunity, and environment — not entirely determined by 'immunity quality.' But immune health is correlated with cancer risk, and maintaining immune function is a reasonable cancer prevention strategy.

The data is real but doesn't require panic. The research measured the acute effect of sleep deprivation — activity drops significantly but recovers with normal sleep. The key is 'long-term, chronic sleep insufficiency' whose damage to immune surveillance is cumulative. Occasionally sleeping poorly can basically be recovered; but consistently sleeping under six hours nightly creates persistent suppression of NK cell function that genuinely warrants concern.

This test hasn't been incorporated into routine health checks, and its predictive value is limited. NK cell activity is influenced by too many short-term factors (sleep, stress, recent infection, exercise status), making single measurements highly variable. Currently the most clinically valuable cancer risk assessment remains standardized cancer screening (colonoscopy, mammography, low-dose CT, HPV/cervical cytology) combined with known risk factors.

Clear evidence exists. Acute exercise (a single moderate-to-high intensity aerobic session) can significantly increase NK cell numbers and cytotoxic activity within hours. Long-term regular exercise (≥150 minutes moderate intensity aerobic per week) correlates with sustained NK cell function improvement. Recommendation: aerobic exercise (brisk walking, swimming, cycling) combined with moderate resistance training, at least 150 minutes per week.

Yes, with clear mechanisms. Chronic psychological stress activates the HPA axis, chronically elevating cortisol, which directly suppresses NK cell cytotoxic activity and CTL proliferative capacity. Under long-term high cortisol, immune surveillance efficiency systematically declines. Effective stress management is an important component of immune surveillance maintenance.
