Blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol — we've grown accustomed to using these numbers to judge health risks.
But the immune system's state has never had a similarly simple number to express it. Until now.
'Immune Risk Scores' take complex immune system states — immune cell composition, functional indicators, inflammation levels, immune aging markers — and through statistical and AI methods, compress them into one (or a few) comprehensive scores that can be tracked, compared, and used to predict risk.
The earliest version (IRP, Immune Risk Profile) appeared in the 1990s, used to predict mortality risk in the elderly. The latest version (iAGE, 2021) uses machine learning to integrate multiple immune markers, predicting disease risk and aging degree far more accurately than single biomarkers.
Understanding immune risk scores is the starting point for proactively managing immune health.
